Hello!
My name is Clara Castle and I am a photographer and videographer located in Charlottesville, Virginia. I've always disliked quick ice breaker games and "About Me" pages because it never feels like enough to truly introduce myself to someone who has no context for me, but we're going to give it a try!
I was born in Chapel Hill North Carolina on homecoming weekend (Go Heels!) and moved to Virginia when I was two years old. I spent toddler years to the first year of middle school in the Hampton Roads area, then moved to Charlottesville upon entering my 7th grade year.
If asked, I would certainly consider Charlottesville to be my heart home. The closeness and beauty of the mountains and trails in and around town are a nice break from the day to day humdrum and a nice reminder of the bigger beauty of the world.
I have 3 loves in my life currently: my corgi/cattle dog named Scout, my Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) named Cleo (Cleopottomas is what you'll likely hear), and my boyfriend Noah. My girls are always up for an adventure whether its a trip to the beach, a hike up Humpback Rock, or a long car ride to a new AirBnb!
I believe that all moments in life, good and bad, are really important in life. I've spent time with a camera in my hands since I was a teenager documenting silly moments, important objects, beautiful scenes, etc. My friends would always be somewhat annoyed by my camera, but years later they have really come to appreciate how many moments I managed to save from younger days.
I am also incredibly excited by new beginnings. A teenager graduating high school to go off into the world and figure out what is important to them and who they are, weddings/elopements beginning a new path for a happy couple, welcoming a new family member. These moments are incredibly special and huge turning points in life that I reflect on in my own life often and continue to document as often as I can so I can look back and smile.
The things I've gone through have brought me to a version of my life I never would have expected and absolutely love.
“It's like the great stories, Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad has happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing this shadow, even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines, it'll shine out the clearer. I know now folks in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding on to something. That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for.”
